Site Opens 3pm Friday June 12th, closes ?pm Sunday. Troll will be closed from 12 midnight Friday until 8am Saturday then open 8am until 3pm Saturday. Site is dog friendly (if leashed, and accompanied by a responsible adult) and alchololic beverages are permitted.

You will receive a ballot with a question for each Merchant. Visit the Merchant, ask the question and he or she will give you the answer and stamp your ballot. When you have visited all eight, drop your ballot in the basket at the Kavehane. The drawing will be held after Court at the Kavehane

Brewing better mead taught by Mistress Helewyse
this class will cover tips and tricks learned from judging meads at IKBG, there are some very simple steps you can utilize to give you tasty drinkable meads a lot sooner than you think. While no actual recipes will be given out participants should leave with a solid set of guidelines for mead making.
French hood workshop taught by THL Sarra Bossard
Maximum 10 participants, 15.00 kit fee, adults only, 2 hours.
14th and 15th century Hats and Headresses taught by THL Lyonnete Vibert
Lyonnete explains how the fashions of the 14th century lead to the elaborate headresses of the 15th century with clues to the construction of each. She will have copies of her Compleat Anachronist article on the subject available.
Dancing Prowess taught by Duchess Eanor

Tired of not being able to tell which chair in camp is yours? Want a more period looking seat, without all the cost? This class will discuss how to customize a cover for your camp chair. The focus is on the mundane, director style camp chair with side table. We will discuss options on how to cover other styles of camp chairs as desired by class participants. $1 fee for pattern piece and instructions.
Opus Anglicanum taught by Cerridwen verch Ioreword
A class for experienced or beginner embroiderers who are interested in learning the art of Opus Anglicanum, English gold work. We will cover the basic stitches required, preferred materials, options and variances available, and period techniques. This is a hands on class. Class is limited to 8 participants and there is a $5 materials fee.
Unsolved Mysteries of the Middle Ages taught by Baroness Catriona
Did Marco Polo actually travel to Cathay? Who IS buried at Glastonbury? There was a pregnant Pope? And, just when was the Cerne Abbas Giant carved into the side of a hill? This is a lighthearted look at the hoaxes, conundrums, and mysteries from and about the Middle Ages.

Bardic Roundtable "Bardic Arts and A&S competitions" - The moderator will be Lady Kateryn Draper (mka Karen Dollinger),
Do you sing or tell stories and are curious about entering competitions? Do you run A&S competitions and want to know how to incorporate the bardic arts? Do you have ideas about improving Division I of the Regional A&S Faire? If so, this class might interest you. There will be a brief presentation about the rules of Middle Kingdom A&S Faires, and then an open discussion about the challenges and rewards of different styles of bardic competions as well as opinions about Regional A&S. , time 1pm Saturday afternoon.


Youth Point

Scavenger Hunt- Starting at Troll on Friday night until 1 hour before the fire circle on Saturday. The scavenger hunt will involve youth with their parents locating different people around the camp and obtaining their signatures. Prizes will be given.

Games- Games run by Gwenllian Bengrych ferch Rhys on Saturday morning. 10am-11am

Drumming & Dancing- Saturday afternoon 2-3:30 pm, activity for around an hour and a half. Children will make their own drums and percussion instruments, learn simple drumming rhythms, and basic belly dance moves in preparation for the family friendly fire circle that night.

Water Battle- Squirt gun/water balloon fight between the fighters and the children. To take place after the fighting has ended. Approximately 5 pm Rain option of other activities/crafts.

Family Friendly Fire Circle- 8 pm - 9 pm Hour long family-safe fire circle including drumming, belly dancing, s'mores, ect. Winners of the scavenger hunt will be announced.


Bardic

There are a variety of Bardic activites planed at NOWM XIII!

The Magic Carpet Kavehane, northern Oaken's finest Celtistani bardic coffee house, will be open throughout much of NOWM and will serve as the focal point of most of the bardic activities. The price of a cup of coffee or a sweet is still a song, a tale, a tune, or a dance. The kavehane is sponsored by the Gorsedd, northern Oaken's household of bards.

A Challenge! - Bee it know by these presents that I, Llywelyn Glyndwr, declair that Robin McCauley, called Robin the Pyrate and Robin of the Whippe, was bested in open Bardic competition at Saxon Summer by Lady Alienor de Saint Remi, a Feemale, and that therfore this Robbin is a Mere Girlie-Manne, and I challenge him and his Lady Rayne of Tara to meet my Ladie Juliane Bechaumpe and I in competition at the North Oaken Warre Maneuvers, June 13, AS XLIV.

'Struth, so confident are my Lady and mee in our respective Manlinesse and Girlienesse, that we declare this to be a Bardic Brawl, second of that name, and challenge all comers to present themselves in Competition.

Let these bee the Rules governing this Girlie-Manne Competition:

The tyme of this Challenge shall be at Dawning of the Sun. (Noe, noe, that is to earlie. At that Houre will I be responding to my ee-mail.) The Tyme shall be at an hour to bee later named before the commencing of the Courts Various.

The location shall be the Magic Carpet Kavehane, a notorious Inne of ill repute, frequented by Lay-Abowts and Bardes.

Each competitor shall have but a single Teame-mate, neither more nor lesse, be it Spouse, or Other of Significants, or Just Frend.

Each Teamme must register for competition during the Daye of the Maneuvers, at that self-sayme Kavehane.

Each Teamme shall present two bardic Peeces, of not more than five minutes duration each, exemplifyinge the Masculine Vertues and the Vertues Feminine.

These Peeces may be presented one-and-one by individual members of the Teamme, or by both Together, or in other combinations if Such bee possible.

There is no Restriction on the content of the Peeces. Let it bee Song, or Dance, or Taile; Acrobatiques or Jungling or Breathing Fire; or Instrumental Musique, or any other Thinge which is intended for performance before an Audience, so long as they conforme to the Theame set out above.

Rapier Combat

Rapier activities will feature a regional melee practice and several tournaments including a Friday night torchlight tourney at 9:30 pm.

Torchlight Tourney— “But Obi Wan. I can’t see a thing with the Blast Shield down!” This year’s Tourney will be a Round Robin. List opens at 8:30 for warm ups and inspection—tournament at 9:00 pm.
