Description: This is an orientation class for visitors, people at their first event, and novices to the SCA. Hilary will explain the structure of the SCA and general SCA events, including the special activities for this event. They will give you a quick introduction of Midrealm history and the famous people you are likely to meet today, as well as how to make friends in the SCA. The second hour will be a walk-through of the event site, and introductions to some of the event staff. You will learn how to get involved in SCA activities, and places where you participate today, even if it's your very first event! - Activity: Songs of the Dragon Sons and Daughters

Description: Bring your singing voices and your martial spirit! These are the songs we sing at post-revels, around the campfires, and marching out to battle! Lady Ursula will provide songsheets with the words to some of the most popular SCA songs, plus a few new additions, and she will teach you the tunes. No skill required -- fighters can sing these songs with their helms on! Songs include: Draco Invictus, Children of the Dragon, Somebody's First To Die, Pick 'Em Up, and more. Stay tuned--there may also be guest leaders with additional songs! - Class: Evolution of SCA Armour

Description: Master Sir Talbot is famous as an armorer and for his collection of actual pieces of European Renaissance armor. He is also an exceptional teacher on the art of the Tourney and the Pas d'Armes. He will present a display and chair a panel discussion on early SCA armor and armor requirements and the improvements over the years, including some truly awful examples of things that people actually used. Do you remember Freon-can helms? Carpet armor? Door pulls used as basket hilts? New people will be truly astonished at this history, and very grateful to learn that we are much safer these days. - Class: Eccentric Laws of the Four Kingdoms

Description: All those Strange Laws have a story behind them! This panel discussion, consisting primarily of former Kingdom officers and Royalty, will explain some of the unique laws of the Midrealm, Northshield, Calontir, and Ealdomere with reference to the events and people who inspired those laws. When the scandals are old enough, they are no longer embarrassing. - Class: Baronies of the Middle Kingdom

Description: Join the kingdom chronicler for an hour session to bring you up to date on new policies, processes and practices. Q&A too, so bring your questions. We'll go down to fighter practice to finish questions if need be. A MUST for new chroniclers, as this class will get you your warrant, if you haven't been to a previous session held by the kingdom chronicler or a regional chronicler. Description: Pennsic is now a vacation destination for many SCA members around the Known World. How did Pennsic grew from a weekend fighting event to a two-week vacation? Brusten and other Pennsic staff members will describe the origins, growth and current status of the Pennsic village. They will explain how Pennsic grew from a weekend fighting event to a two-week city-state including special projects, architecture, logistics, and fighting. This is your chance to hear behind the scenes of the many facets needed to have a major event like Pennsic. - Class: A Dreamers Travels: History, Virtues and Contemplations

Class Description: Join us as we read highlights from the Allegorical tale 'A Dreamers Travels: Being the Adventures of a Pilgrim in the Current Middle Ages' written by W.J. Bethancourt III under his Society name Ioseph of Locksley. As we read we will pause to discuss the subject matter and the lessons we can learn from the Allegory. We will also briefly discuss the History of the Society as it relates to the Tale and how we can tap into that history to enhance the Future of our Society. New people are welcome! More seasoned players also welcome! Texts will be available for class use (12 Copies of the Text only, requesting a $2.00 donation toward printing costs if you wish to take the Text with you.). Adults only-this class is for 16 and over unless accompanied by Adult Guardian. About the Author: W.J. (Joe) Bethancourt III was born in El Paso, Texas in the year 1946; he is a Folk Musician and Filk Artist. Mr. Bethancourt currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona. He Joined the Society in A.S. 2 and was involved in the establishment of the SCA in Arizona, that Kingdom we would today call Atenveldt. In the Society Joe is known as Ioseph of Locksley and while he no longer holds a membership in the SCA he does reportedly still retain his membership in the Great Dark Horde. Among his many awards from the Society he is a Laurel, a Pelican and Baron. He has served in most ever office of the Society, except that of Seneschal.
