Coordinator: The Honorable Lord Seamus Mac MurchaDha
Contact Info: jon {at} armlann {dot} com
Description: Make a priceless record of the best stories of the Current Middle Ages, as told by Those Who Were There. SCA stories often divide into three types. There are stories of Heroic Adventure, also known as "No s***, there we were..." stories. There are stories of Misadventure and Mishap, which may also begin with "No s***, there we were...". And there are stories of Mischief and Amusement, a category which includes puns, embarrassing moments, pranks, and much laughter. We want all the good stories on record! The best way to tell stories is with a good audience, so bring your audience with you to the StoryCorp recording station(s). If you have heard of a good SCA story, this is the time to ask around for the right storytellers and bring them to the StoryCorp station. If you don’t have any great stories, come and listen to the others! With luck, there will be two recording stations, one for audio only and one for audo-video. Master Sean o'Shaughnessy will be looking for storytellers, and he knows who you are! - Activity: First Garb Fashion Show
- Time: Saturday 7:00 pm
Location: Auditorium, 3rd Floor
Coordinator: Lady Bridget Catherine Raghailligh (Heather Sparling)
Contact Info: htsparling {at}yahoo {dot}com
Description: Do you remember your first garb? Were you very proud of that T-tunic, that princess dress, or that chain mail? Can you still find that garb, or maybe a picture of it? Bring it to the XL event and show us the ancient wonder! Extra points if your first garb is still wearable. Double extra points if you can still fit into it yourself! We were all beginners once (This must be the motto of the event. Say, I wonder how that phrase sounds in Latin?) and it is an honorable thing to be respectful of the first attempts of beginners. Except, of course, if the beginners have since become the very models of medieval fashion. In that case, we will laugh at your first attempts at sewing! Any current beginners (first and only garb, or first event today) in the fashion show will earn a round of respectful applause for their sincerity and their efforts! - Activity: Post-revel at the event
- Time: Saturday 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Description: Inspired by the illuminated books of the Middle Ages, such as Tres Riches Heurs and the Book of Kells, the artists and artisans of the Midrealm once created a complete Book of Ceremonies and Pageantry. This was a breathtaking and ambitious project, which required the cooperation of a large number of calligraphers and illuminators, the finest in the land. The finished product contains the text of the Coronation Ceremony and the Invocation for Crown Tourney, as well as the genealogy of the Monarchs, and the list of the Peerage orders. It includes texts for scrolls. All the pages were written and illustrated by hand, using the medieval methods of calligraphy and illumination. Furthermore, it was bound in tooled leather, wrapped in silk-embroidered cloth, and protected by a carved oaken box with a medieval locking mechanism. This is a true work of love, created by some of the most talented artists of the Kingdom. Mistress Siobhan has arranged long-term storage for this book in the climate-controlled vault in the Rare Book room at Western Michigan University. For more information and pictures, there is an entire web site devoted the Great Book at http://www.midrealm.org/mkgb/GreatBookContents.html. - Display: The Midrealm Reliquary
