Lyonnete did the calligraphy and illumination for Donasian's award of arms, given for recruiting and service at events. The device displayed is the one he hopes to register with the college of heralds. Note the miniatures showing Donasian at service on the battlefield, and scrubbing pots including an infamous rice pot.
