Sept 14-16 Harvest Day, OH Sept 22nd... cancelled, moved, cancelled.... ah ha, Coronation!
CORONATION:There are only 10 days until Coronation, thanks to everyone who's making site tokens tonight, Volunteer for something, all Coronation staff need assistance Our Autocrat spoke with Thier Royal Magesties and Thier Royal Highnesses, the auction that was to happen at the event to bennefit the royal travel fund will have the proceeds instead split between that and the relief effort for New York or DC. To make the auction a sucess, entries are needed, see Lord Nial if you'd like to donate something, he has only 3 donations so far. Geoffrey is the shire reeve for the event, he has a sign up sheet for anyone willing to help with set up and tear down and throughout the day Saturday. Set up begins Friday night at 7pm. Sign up for a time or see him for details. Bastian is also looking for some help setting up the castle wall Friday night, and would like to thank everyone who helped with making site tokens for the event. Marsaili needs materials for the children's area, our supplies were depleted by Baycrafters and she's running out of money to buy them herself, glue, fabric, fabric paint, plastic gems, beads all are needed, see her for details. Also the Children's Area at the event will only be open 4 hours, please consider volunteering for a half hour or so, if only to take a few minutes to tell a story or do a dance for the kids, keep them entertained and happy. See Marsaili for details. There will be a standard Arts and Sciences competition at the event, with a small twist, it will be a combatants versus non-combatants A&S Melee! That's right, show your authorization card when you enter or proudly declair yourself a pacifist, a small prize will go to everyone who enters from the group with the most entries. Lyonnete needs judges to help with the competition, the more judges the less work for each, you don't need to be an expert, you just have to be able to read. She'd like it people volunteered to just come down for a short while and judge one or two pieces, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the event. See her if you'd like to judge. And there will be a Fashion Show, the fashion show will be juried by a discriminating pannel of judges, on style, pennache and authenticity. Documentation not required. If you know a lot about style, Pennache or Authenticity, why not be a judge? If you've not had time to pull together a nice new outfit for Coronation, you can just judge who's best from those who did. See Lyonnete or Karl von Kohn for details. There will be a fabulous feast, but Kathryn verch Rhys doesn't want to talk about that, she wants to talk about servers! because that's what she's in charge of... you still get to eat the feast, just earlier, please volunteer to serve, see Kathryn now to get on the list of servers Your class coordinator for the event, (eh hem, that's me ;) is looking for a chalk board or markerboard. I need two for classes during the day and they're really expensive, let me know if you have one I can borrow. Friday is the last day to get pre-reg prices for Coronation, site and feast prices go up after friday, see Celeste or her lovely assistant Clariel to register for the event. Feast slots going fast. There will be multiple sets of Royalty at this event, we need Royal guards, any new squires or men at arms would be welcome for this job, see Lord Nial Want to play with sharp knives and hot things? The kitchen always needs help! There is a sign up sheet and will be a sign up sheet posted on the kitchen door on the day of the event. Come in and wash ten dishes during the day and they'll love you. It gets the feast ready faster and out on the tables. Christina doesn't give the sharp knives to folks she doesn't trust mind you... (the other kitchen staff... well... ) SCA Buisness:Anyone with ideas on what to do with the money raised from the Pennsic Auction, see Lord Nial Anyone interested in brewing, see Lord Nial Armorer's guild is meeting tomorrow (thursday) Same time and place as usual, see Timothy for details For those of you who know who Karl is, you know what to do, for the rest he's our Minister of Arts and Sciences and he has a sign up sheet for you to write your A&S projects for the month down on, even if he's not here the sheet should be. Please write down your projects. Fencing will now be meeting upstairs due to light considerations, they have loaner gear for new fencers, see Snowden for details. Conrad reminds everyone that even though it is getting cooler, you still need water if you're out fighting or doing any other physical activity, don't forget to drink. As Lord Nial wasn't here last week, he'd like to thank everyone who helped out at Baycrafters and made it a sucessful Demo Archery will be meeting Sunday, come down and shoot, they're doing guild rankings so if you want to see where you fall in the guild, come out and shoot. The sunday after Coronation there will be no archery, everyone's planning on being asleep. Non SCA:The CWRU Medieval Society is back in session, they're meeting tuesday nights, as of yet no confirmation on the room, though most likely Carlton Commons again to accomodate fighters. See your favorite CWRU student or staff member for details. There is a large bowl of grapes, Karl wants to go home with the bowl, he'd rather not have any grapes in it when he does. Please, eat the grapes, leave the bowl. And everyone wish myfanwy a happy birthday! (and a certain Marshal neglected to mention it was his birthday too, name withheld to protect Calum) From His Grace:His Grace stepped forward and knelt near the seated crowd gathered round and in a low tone in contrast to proud regal speeches about chivalry and the society, spoke: Several of you have approached me this evening asking me if I would speak or if I wanted to say anything about the tragedy... because somehow I am an authority figure in this little world we live in, you look to me like any group looks to its authority figures for solace, boyscouts look to den mothers, a school to it's principal and so on, and only by your act of will do I speak. Each of us must examine our own souls and hearts, any group looks to authority figures for solace, there is such a small degree of separation between all of us and this disaster, so many know someone... but we are still here. Still free, meeting in this place creating this little world we enjoy, but it's not just the SCA, we are still able to do all the ordinary things we do every day, enjoying the freedom we have. We're only here, only able to do this because of those who came before us, our parents and forfathers who forged this freedom. If you want solace and words of wisdom, don't look to me, ask someone who fought for that freedom. That is all.
And that is all for this week... In service, |
