EVENTS!

Well we all know what's going on this weekend, Northern Oaken War Maneuvers, but we'll get to that in a sec,

next weekend:
There's a Fenix event
Baronial Border Wars in Michigan

and back to Northern Oaken War Maneuvers:

There are about twenty spots left for the above the salt feast! get 'em while you can, anyone who volunteers to serve will get the below the salt feast free.

Volunteers are still needed for set up, helping the shire reeve, etc. See Crispin or Gunthur if you're interested

There are 15 merchants coming so shopping looks good :)

Over 17 awards will be given out at court, looks to be an important court

Volunteers are still needed in the kitchen for the day and to serve feast, clean up, etc. Many hands make for light work, see Aldeyn if you're interested

Storytellers, singers, dancers! Marsaili would love it if you donated an hour or fortyf ive minutes to entertaining kids at children's point. Remember, if the kids are happy, so are the rest of us! see her if you're interested.

The weather report for this weekend is 70 degrees and sunny! want to enjoy it? Pre-register so you won't spend all morning waiting in line! Celeste and Guenhwyfar are ready to take your money.

Cienwen needs help either with her kids or with the gold key at the event because she can't devote all her attention to both, her Lord being unable to make it to the event for personal reasons. Also we're missing #19 in the gold key, a royal blue Italian Renn with with a white chemise. If you have it or know who does, please see it returned, this is one of our nicer loaner pieces.

There will be a fencing novice tourney and melee fighting, if you are a fencer, fencing marshal or known one who is going to be at the event, please check with our Marshal of Fence.

Thanks to everyone who helped make archery targets for the event on sunday, especially to Nial and Myfanwy for letting the archers use thier basement when the weather turned out to be freezing. There will be a champion shoot outj and full war practice, advancing man, 100 yard clout, castle window shoot and children's archery!

Also there is a full tract of classes for non-combatants during the day, and the hofla running all day as well.

SCA BUSINESS

Interested in going out to work on the fort next week? Nial's looking to carpool.

Our seneschal is looking for January Event proposals by desert revel this month, and will soon be accepting proposals for next Northern Oaken.

There are pictures from past events on the table, take a look, let Nial know if you want copies.

Also, Nial asks that you keep your non-sca announcements short as possible to speed up meeting times, thanks.

The Fellowship of the Oaken Blade is raffeling off a dagger and buckler made by our own skilled artisan Gladius the Alchemist. They are a set, a $155 value, and only 155 tickets will be sold. Your chances are much better than the Ohio Lottery. There are about 30 tickets left, by them this evening and you'll have to listen to the fencers nagging for tickets less at the event. The drawing will be on Sunday and you do not need to be present to win. The proceeds from the raffle are going to make regalia for the Order of the Bronze Ring, the highest honor available in the Middle Kingdom for fencing.

There will be a Dance Guild meeting this monday at the Euclid Public library, see Angie or Milesent for directions You do not need to be a guild member to attend!

At Melee in the March last week it rained a lot, but the fencers had a nice dry pavillion and our own Li and Vincent Furnier are new Northern Oaken Rapier champions! hoobah! of the 18 fencers in the competition, 4 were from Cleftlands and all four advanced to the final 8, coming in First, third, sixth and seventh respectively.

A good lady advertized on the Middle Bridge (the middle kingdom email list) that she is putting together a handbook for Autocrats, please see Pietro if you've imput to give, he has submission instructions.

Speaking of Autocrats... if you've ever Autocrated or feast-o-crated a Cleftlands Event, your assistant Chronicler wants to know (that's me) I'm compiling a list of past events for our History. Also if you've held an office in the barony, I wanna know that too :)

The Scribes guild will be meeting with the archery guild here at the Shore Center on Tuesday the 19th, Milesent will be teaching her figure drawing class.

Working on the Fort is fun! Go do it! also for those with blatant egos, if a group offers 100 hours of service, the group device can go up on the wall! Wouldn't blue and white nebuly look good there? ;)

Dancers, Storytellers, Needleworkers, Woodworkers... our Chatalaine hasn't gotten a write-up yet for your guilds! grrr! She knows who you are!

There will be no armorer's guild meeting this thursday as all the armorer's are helping prepare for the event.

DEMOS:

June 13th for the cubscouts, Milesent, Alex and Sarah Rex are attending that one

June 22nd, again cub scouts, I believe Shlomo and Nial are going to that one?

July 16-20th another group of cub scouts wants a one day afternoon demo.

Baycrafters is coming up labor day weekend! there will be fencing and heavy weapons tournaments, they're looking for classes that are easy for the public to do, period pavilions to set up, items to show... we're doing it up right this year! See Darius, Sarra Bossard, Lady Alex or Sarah Rex for details.

Non-SCA

Madalaine has been collecting bunny furs to make a throw for at Pennsic... well it's been several years and she's decided it's time for the bunnies to find a new home. See her after meeting if you'd like to buy one.

Cienwen is a member of the Cooking Club of America, they've a section in thier newsletter about cooking groups, wouldn't an article on our cooks guild look niffty there? and be nice exposure for the sca. See her if you're interested.

From His Grace:

How many are going to be at Northern Oaken? (show of hands) good, now if you intend to fight at Northern Oaken, or know someone who does, it will likely be cool and dry this weekend, but it is not cool and dry tonight. Make sure your armour is dry when you put it away and aren't pulling out mildewed and rusted bits of what used to be armour on Saturday.

August 4th is check in for war, better get started on what should've been done three wars ago, and maybe you'll get to this year's projects by 2007. Other than helping out at Pennsic, building the fort and whatnot, what will you be doing? Remember that you accidentally ptiched your tent on a tree stump last year and it's got a hole that needs repairing and where did you put all of your stuff?

That's all.

One last note, there is $36 in the tithe basket, and over 50 people here, we ask $1 from everyone, $2 from combatants, if it's your first or second meeting be our guests.

section break

And that is all for this week...

In service,
Milesent
