Seadna is Gatekeeper and is taking reservations now and every week up until the event! Register early and make everyone's life easier.

James Barkley is Archery marshal in charge, any marshals who can help out see him. There will be some novelty shoots. He is in particular looking for donations of large stuffed animals to be killed. In particular a Barney the Dinosaur would be nice!

Garvin's the Thrown Weapons marshal and shall be minding the range all day. If you want to throw a knife, axe or spear but aren't sure how, he's happy to teach.

If you'd like to teach a class at the event see Edward Brackenburye, it's a good opportunity to rehearse that class you want to teach at Pennsic!

The Cooks need help as always, cooking, pre-cooking, chopping of veggies etc. See Mathias. Katrien ferch G. is in charge of servers, see her if you'd like to volunteer as a server.

Rutgur is handling the heavy weapons activities, there will be bridge and field battles, belted and unbelted champions will have some fun as well as melee training for less experienced fighters. See him for details. Darius is handling waterbearing. Wash out your milk jugs thoroughly and sterlize them if possible. See him for details or to voluteer to help with waterbearing.

SCA Buisness:

Everyone congratulate your new Dance Guild Mistress: Kathrine verch Rhys, hoobah. And there is a poll for folks to fill out on your opinions on how dancing is held in the Cleftlands, even if you are not a regular dancer or member of the guild please fill one out and return it to Angie. See Kathrien verch Rhys for details.

Archery Marshal reports are due! If you're an archery marshal get 'em in. There's archery practice on sundays at 1pm at JJT Archery (formerly Lucus Archery)and there was a write up on the SCA in the Geauga Bowmen's newsletter. They're interested in our buisness, see Elayne von Konningsburg for details.

Armourer's guild is on thursday night as usual at Ealdred and Clairiel's

If you are a rapier combatant please consider attending Baron Wars, it is the regeonal rapier championship. See Snowden for details.

If you ordered Rattan, see Rutgur, the order's in.

Demos:

July 20th or so there's a possible demo for Geauga Bowmen's

There's a day demo coming up very shortly for St. Christine's school

Right after Pennsic is Baycrafters! Pavillions are needed for shade, prizes for the tourneys (there are 6 prizes needed total. Lady Alex is looking for gift certificates, if you work for a store or restaurant that may want to donate a certificate, see her!) Let Darius know what days you can committ to, last year we had a few people who worked the whole weekend, more hands make for lighter work.

And the weekend right after Baycrafters is the Euclid City Faire, they're doing a Renn faire theme this year and would like our help. There is a chance that we can get a reduced rate on our meeting site in exchange for this or possibly even a free meeting site!

Also Darius is resigning as Demo Coordinator, if you'd like the office or have opinions about the office, please see him.

Non-SCA:

This Saturday from 2-4pm there is a making your own quill pen and natural ink workshop at the Metroparks (Rocky River Nature Center) You do need to call to reserve your spot. See Guenhwyvar for details.

Today's James Barkley's birthday, hoobah!

If you're interested in a vynal baronial badge sticker, the stickers will be 3" by 4", put a tick mark on the sheet. They're getting a count so they can decide how to proceed. The more people who want stickers the cheaper each one will be. See Crispin for details.

Congratulations Conrad and Kat on their engagement! (Lady Alex is pairing up Nosse Eldesar's as fast as she can ;)

Rutgur has a couch, best offer, he'll even help you move it out of his house.

Monty's moving soon, and he needs furniture, hey Rutgur...

There is Middle Eastern dancing at the Gallery Cafe in Euclid on monday nights, and a drum circle on thursdays. See Darius or another favorite Middle Eastern Dancer for details.

This friday is English Country Dancing in Lakewood, it's a lot of fun, they do a lot of out of period dances that are quick paced, see Angie, Angharad or Aiden for details.

From the Baron and Baroness:

Three things.

  1. Coronation - some of the greatest pagentry in the SCA can be seen at Coronation. These are the reasons why we spend a week packing for Pennsic and two weeks cleaning up afterward, Coronation involves less preparation for a guest and has all the pagentry. Also Pieter was the first Cleftlander Ephraim met! Proof that even after they leave our borders Cleftlanders do well.
  2. A window pane fell out of one of our windows tonight. Please do not use the windows as a backrest. Remember in the SCA Mundane laws still do apply, including the law of gravity. Be careful, and also help the owners of our meeting site keep a good opinion of the SCA and let maintenance know when something is amiss.
  3. If you're not a dancer you're missing one of the most fun activities in the SCA. Dance is why Sir Ephraim came to his second SCA meeting, he's not sure why he put armour on for the second time. It's easy to get good and have fun dancing. If you've not tried it, do. It's fun.
