Lord Nial opened the meeting with a reminder to pay your tithe, we do pay for this space. We ask $1 from everyone, $2 from combatants. If this is your first or second meeting (or you're under 12) please be our guests.

Nial then asked for everyone to be quiet and listen as he outlined some details on the Poll process. This was decided by Lord Nial, the Kingdom Seneschal and Transition officer Kirsten and is "set in stone" no openings for changes after this first public announcement.

May 29th at Dessert revel before buisness meeting, while classes are going on, each baronial candidate will get five minutes to answer questions from the populace. Couples may choose to take five minutes together, each individualy take five minutes, or take ten minutes together.

After the 'meet and greet' an internal poll will be handed out for members of the barony to select the three canidates they feel should be on the formal poll ballot. You may rank your three choices, if you only find one or two choices acceptable you may pick only one or two.

If you live outside of the barony's boarders, you can still vote (applause at this). See Nial to get your ballot with proof of SCA membership (Membership card or a copy of the Pale with your name on the adress label.)

The internal poll will be handed out at meeting and mailed to those adresses Nial has for people who cannot attend meeting. There is only one week to fill out your poll and return it to Nial. Polls will be collected June 5th at Baronial meeting.

It is Nial, the Kingdom Seneschal, Transition Officer and Thier Royal Majesties intention to have a new baron and/or baroness in place by Pennsic.

The floor opened up for questions at this point.

Katerin ferch Gwynan asked if barony members could provide the proof of membership and collect copies of the internal poll for other barony members who cannot attend meeting.

No. You must get your poll personally from Nial, no one is authorized to deliver a poll for anyone else. Those who have difficulty attending meeting can see Nial at his home, call, email or write him.

Will last minute memberships proven by a self-adressed stamped postcard or photocopy of order form be accepted?

Yes, you must be a paid member of the SCA to take part in either poll.

Nial said this would be handled on a case-by-case basis. See him for details.

Her Grace, Duchess Emelyn asked about Nial's mention of Society involvement... she wanted to know if the Society's directive would be announced to the populace or if any of the proceedings of this process would be made available to the populace. Nial replied that Society just said that everything has proceeded legally. Ser Nick spoke up that he had indeed talked with the Kingdom Seneschal who emphasized that the Kingdom guidelines were just that, guidelines, and that it was up to the barony to decide how to proceed. The guidelines do not mandaate the time frame. Some questions were raised at this increadibly accelerated time frame, Nial stated that it was decided by himself, the transition officer and kingdom seneschal with the recomendations of Their Royal Magesties and was set in stone.

Lord Nial also expressed his desire that everyone discuss this and be polite, friendly and civil.

Master Aiden at this point stepped forward to express his objection to the time frame considering what a very large group we have and how small a fraction of us attend any one baronial meeting. Two weeks to collect the poll would be pushing it, one week seems completely unacceptable. Lord Nial cut him off again stating that the time frame was already decided.

There will be no Standard Bearer's tournement until a new Baron or Baroness is in place. (another small cheer at this announcement)

There will be Melee fighting, bridge battle, authorizations and a torchlight tourney friday night with a prize... Rutgur is still looking for a prize for the tourney, please see him if you've a donation or sugestion.

There will be Classes, if you practice an art or science you can teach a class about it! See Milesent if you're even somewhat thinking of maybe teaching a class. Of note to fighters: Sir Brannos is going to teach a spear class at the event.

There will be archery at the event. sign up at troll, details are a suprise.

Fencers see Snowden, she's pondering a torchlight tourney for fencing, there will be fencing melees with the cannon. Only melee fencing at the event.

The Fellowship of the Oaken blade is raffling off a schlager made by Gladius. The shlager is a $175 value, only 175 tickets will be sold, $5 a ticket. Proceeds will go toward regalia for the bronze ring, rubberbands for our cannon and all sorts of other good and worthy causes, see Fitzranulf for details.

Monty's donating two season tickets to six flags ammusement park to the barony, the retail value is about $36 a piece. Monty handed the tickets to Nial for the barony to use as a prize or auction off as we see fit.

Scribes please see Guenhwyfar or her lovely assistant Antarcus if you're going to be helping out with the scribes project and gift for Norther Oaken. Also scribes are meeting on tuesday the 21st at Master Aiden's.

Lyonnete intends to have the Literary Review done for Northern Oaken, it will be a free publication. If you have any poetry, prose, papers or black and white drawings of an SCA or medieval theme, please get them to her as soon as possible. As there have been few entries of artwork, Lyonnete is going to have a contest for the cover art for the Literary Review, see her for details.

Archery is meeting as usual this sunday, at least one person will be there despite Aethelmarc war practice. Also Archery guild is having a buisness meeting tuesday the 21st at 7pm at Darius's home. Archery marshals and marshals in training need to get your reports in by June 1st.

Stephan von Lubeck wanted to thank all the fighters who participated in the collumn charges at Baron Wars, he recieved a lot of compliments from the people they were hitting. See him for collumn charge talk.

House Bork is having a tent cleaning party on May 25th at Nial's place, fighters and fencers welcome.
