EVENTS:

There are several events happening this weekend... but we'll only talk about one:
Standard Bearer's!
Tonight is the last night to get the cheaper pre-reg price and there is a limit on feast! Go, register! the troll is here and happy to take your money Anyone on staff or teaching classes, check with the autocrat after meeting, she has a tenative flyer to be handed out at the event with schedule etc. Make sure your class is listed correctly!
They are looking for a water cooler for near the kitchen as well as the one that will be at the Chiurgeon's point.
Volunteers are still wanted for set up.
The troll would rather not be a baked troll... anyone with a shade pavillion they are willing to donate please see her!
Anyone wanting to help with the feast or in the kitchen please see Master Aiden, and please do pre-register for the event, it'd be nice to know how many he's cooking for!

other events upcoming;
Three Tower's Encampment at the Castle, May 4, 5 and 6

SCA Buisness:

News has arrived! There are rumors of war on the horizon! (gasps from the crowd!) archers remind you to get your bows ready! and if you do not have a bow, see your local friendly merchant fellow

There is a new issue of the Forum

Calum printed out a brief note on Cleftlands history and, being the semi masochistic fellow that he is, notes that the written baronial histories all end in 1980, leaving the last twenty years blank. He'd like to fill it in. Now he will not succeed in writting twenty years of history, but WE might. Please see him if you've stories of the last twenty years to share!

With rumors of war on the horizon... there is a fort being built at Pennsic this year with volunteer labor needed every weekend except this one (so no excuse to miss Standard Bearers... they haven't gotten thier wood delivered yet) Vincent Furnier is handling co-ordinating efforts so see him if you're interested in lending a hand, please provide your own tools and wear appropriate work gear including heavy gloves

As there are rumors of war on the horizon... you should tone your skills of war! There is a spear and polearm class going on in the next room, it will continue until site closes.

With war looming on the horizon, it's important to get your armor ready. Armorer's guild is meeting thursday nights as usual. See Timothy for details.

Karl doesn't have his A&S sign up sheet this week, alas, he will bring it next, but be aware there is a link on the Cleftlands web site for submitting A&S activities to him! Or you could just remember his email adress: dwminch@yahoo.com

Speaking of war, are you planning on teaching a class at Pennsic? You should probably have already registered! If you live in Cuyahoga county it's a local call and the class coordinator will thank you for making it! Unless you really want to teach IN the swamp at 4am on monday...

Shlomo reminds all of the lovely April pale, there are still copies of the collector's edition Scasmopaleton available (including just the joke articles and /all/ the joke articles) congratulate all who worked hard to make it a sucess and do read it, it's a good giggle.

With War looming on the horizon perhaps we should get together and have a practice for the Northern Oaken Army? How about the second weekend in June? *chuckle* Anyone interested in helping out with Northern Oaken War Maneuvers Five, especially set up, please see Crispin

Where there's war, there's drums and music and that leads to Dancing! next door after meeting ;)

Scouts see Darius-- ya wanna get ready for war, right?

The cook's guild has a number of books of recipes available for those already thinking of next desert revel (and a thank you to everyone who participated in this month's theme of Eggs) After meeting there will be a brief class on period spices and spice mixtures and there will be a cooks guild meeting July 10th? at Ealdred's house where, with war looming on the horizon, we shall explore the wonders of cooking outdoors! Much like you have to do at war. Details as that approaches.

Archery is still meeting sunday afternoons, better practice your shooting with war looming on the horizon!

War is looming! and this announcement has nothing to do with that. Lady Alex is our new Chatalaine, and she'd love to have a deputy as soon as possible... she'll take anyone, except maybe Madoc the young, he can't drive yet ;)

Madalaine reminds you that you will need something to wear to this war that is looming on the horizon! She is our needleworkers guild mistress and would be happy to help you out, no question is too simple or too silly, she works out of her home, her phone number is in the directory, call she'll help you out.

Demos:

Ben Franklin school is looking for an early day demo

May 8th we have a demo for Whitney Middle school

July 16-20th the cub scouts are looking for one day afternoon demo
June 18-22 likewise for the boy scouts

Non SCA:

the CWRU Medieval Society sucessfully tested thier trebuchet! whee! it works! they laid seige to the south campus... though the south campus didn't seem to notice much, and on Saturday shall lay seige to the university's Spring Fest. Anyone who'd like to give the CWRU students something to show for this important event for gathering new members, please see your favorite student!

Angharad has a box of mostly kitchen supplies that are good, but she's not using and wants to see go to someone who will, take! even the box is up for grabs.

Notre Dame College book sale starts tomorrow ends sunday

The CWRU book sale is in June a week before NOWM

From His Grace:

Does anyone have any questions about the stories for the Standard Bearer's event? no? good. Please, don't make them too terribly long (Ealdred pipes up 'try to make 'em no longer than you can stand to hear His Grace talk' to general snickering) His Grace replied that /that/ depends entirely upon whom the story is about. "I'm the person who knows things no one wants to know". He's got stories, some of which havent' seen the light of day... for good reason! *chuckling* There will be a court at the event, when the stories are presented depends upon how many stories there are, most likely at feast.

section break

And that is all for this week.
In service,
