The Autocrat and Troll are centrally located in the meeting hall, please see them to sign up to volunteer, pre-register for the event (The cook would be thrilled to have an idea of how many people he's cooking for). The troll(op) is in particular looking for someone to help her with troll in the early morning, you will not miss out on any of the competitions if you work this shift and all the early shift event staff are getting hot cinamon rolls as a bribe (oooo! yum!) The autocrat is looking for someone to take charge of Children's activities for the event. Anyone with info on merchants, please see Hawise. If you'd like to help out in the kitchen or baking bread, see Aiden. There will be a Quest for non-combatants at the event with a prize.

SCA Buisness:

Brewers, Nial is brewing, see him if you'd like to join in on the fun, Also he hopes to start cutting wood for ballistas next week (Ballistas and brewing, what a wonderful combonation)

The fencing marshal on duty felt it important to announce that at the event last weekend, Li won the archery tournement! hoobah! and dutifully Li turned the same shade as her doublet.

Also last weekend, the Oaken Scribes were awarded the order of the purple fretty. To commemorate this honor, the scribes are preparing an illuminated book which shall become a part of regalia, please see our Scribe's Guild mistress for details. (historical note; the Cleftland's Scribes Guild has recieved the Order of the Purple Fretty twice before, see your local Chronicler or Scribes Guild mistress for details)
The Scribe's guild meeting scheduled for monday has been cancelled, the meeting is delayed until such time as they can find another group to share the space and expense.

Archery is not meeting this sunday due to Easter, please note that they will be starting full war practices soon including 100 yard clout shoots etc. Still meeting every sunday (except next) at 1pm at Lucus Archery. (There are directions on the website)

Armorer's Guild is meeting thursday night as usual, same time, same place, see Timothy for details.

There will be a meeting of the Cleftland's Battle Unit after meeting.

The Cooks' guild met tuesday, and they hope to continue having monthly meetings as well as introduce themes for Desert Revel's and teach classes on different aspects of food and cooking in period. Hoping to get some new blood into the guild, come on, some of you out there have got to love food! Starting simple, the theme for the next desert revel shall be; Eggs. Next week the cooks will have recipe books you may leaf through to get ideas, there will also be a presentation, I believe Angharad will present medieval spices? Questions? Comments? concerns? See Ealdred

Someone left a shield blank next door two meetings ago, please claim it or someone else will!

A note from our Pursuivant, traditionally (meaning it's been done three times now) The Standard Bearer's event is a time to pay your baronial taxes! Had trouble remembering your tithe? Why not pay all the whole year at once? See Pietro for details... he's got all his reciepts in order this year.

Darius has recieved one design for a t-shirt, drawn by Edward Brakenburye, take a look... if he doesn't get any other submissions this'll be it, though he'd like to have a selection to choose from.

There is Dancing after meeting and your dance guild mistress wants to see her guild, by the boom box.

Non-SCA

East suburbs rugby club is meeting this saturday, 1pm at the Cuyahoga County Airport in Richmond Hieghts, come out and enjoy the beautiful weather, okay it's not medieval but it's fun

The CWRU Medieval Society has finished thier trebuchet! And intend to unveil it at the university's SpringFest... which unfortunately is the same day as the Standard Bearer's event... in the unlikely event that some of you cannot attend standard bearers and still have the day off, the CWRU students would appreciate help in this demo, or if you have any gear to lend them for thier table they'd appreciate it, this event traditionally is a good one for recruiting new members!

an adorable young couple announced thier fourth anniversary

another member of our barony is leaving us! woe, she is joining the navy, anyone who would like to keep in touch please feel free to email her at: cp15@uakron.com She'll post her permanent navy email adress as soon it's in effect.

From His Grace:

Again, all combatants there is a battle unit meeting right after meeting next door, and after ward you may go dance, if you'd like to do both you'll have to split yourself in two, not really that hard considering His Grace has a sword... but the putting back together again can be difficult.

For the Standard Bearers championships, champion d'arc, champion d'epe, champion d'arms and the standard bearer all must as dues for competing provide a story. Who has been in the sca for less than five years? (show of hands) ten years? fifteen? twenty? twenty-five? Thirty (no hands, his Grace smiled and noted that he'd need a mirror for that one. James made some comment from the sidelines about being in over 40 years, his Grace started to draw his sword... and apparently decided not to smite James but rather continue the tale.)

For those who have been in the sca five years or less, tell us a tale from the first five years of the barony. For those ten years or less, from the second five years of the barony and so on. We shall start from the end and begining and meet in the middle. THe reason for this is that this very week marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Barony of the Cleftlands. The stories must be about Cleftland's history, as we endevor to re-create medieval history, we should not forget our own. Identify the time of the tale and please, keep your presentations short, no epic poems please. You need not be a combatant to give a tale, but please co-ordinate with the autocrat and his grace so that they know how many presentations there will be and know when to have them. If there are five presentations, during feast will work fine, if there are fifty, well, we'll want to space them out.

Finally, the weather's turning warm, soon the fighters shall be going outside with thoughts of war looming in thier minds... please fighters, repair your armor. Some of you have one ring holding where a row should be, missing rivets, broken straps... everyone, take care of your fighters, you may need them someday.

And that is all for this week.
In service,
