Archery guild still meets every sunday at Lucus archery, 1pm, this sunday they're starting the april team competition, if you want to be a part of the competition, you must attend all the archery guild practices in april. Also there is a guild meeting on April 3rd at Snowden's house. It will be a potluck, there's a sign up sheet.

Anyone interested in scouting or demos, see Darius, also he's gotten one design for Baronial t-shirts, if he doesn't get another submission that will be it.

There is no sewing circle meeting next monday... the room's gotten too expensive for thier less than exsistant budget.

Cooks' guild is meeting tuesday April 10th at the home of Ealdred and Clariel, the theme is taste testing the feast for Standard Bearers, mmm yummy! see Ealdred, Clariel, Aiden or Angharad for details.

Baycrafters is coming up, this is our largest demo and we're going to be running things a little differently this year, start planning on what you can do, what time you can commit.

Lord Karl reminds us all that his arts and sciences sheet for the month of March will be coming down next week, so don't forget to write on it all the projects you did this month!

And Lady Sara stepped forward and announced that she is giving up her office of Chatelain and introduced Lady Alex who will be taking her place and presented her with the keys to the Barony... with subtle warnings as to what they may open, as well as the fact that they make an awful lot of noise if you wear them on your belt. There was a cheer for the vallient work of Lady Sara, and for Lady Alex taking up the mantle bravely... Lady Alex then proceeded to attend to some minor silliness involving elven dukes and the meeting continued.

Non-SCA:

The CWRU Medieval Society is taking part in the anual CWRU 'Saturday Sampler' this Saturday, it's an event for all the student groups at the university to show off and hopefully get new members, any help from members of the barony will be appreciated, a whole lot, see Milesent, Lyonnete, Donasian or your favorite CWRU student for details.

Aurore has girl scout cookies! here and now, ready to go! buy 'em out of the back of her van!

The Natural Wonders stores in Great Lakes Mall and Beldane Village mall are going out of buisness, lots of neat stuff really cheap.

There is a mundane english country group that meets on the first friday of the month, that'd be April 6th, in Lakewood. See just about all of the big dancers in the barony for details... there's quite a large Cleftlands contingent that attends. They do period english country dances up to ones that were written last week.

From His Grace:

How many people here, by a show of hands, have been in the sca less than five years? Okay, how many five to ten years? Ten to fifteen? Fifteen to twenty? Twenty to twenty-five? twenty-five to thirty? (and at last His Grace raises his hand) The reason I ask this is that around the time of our Standard Bearer's event is the 30th anniversary of the founding of the March of the Cleftlands. A quest for those who would compete in any of the competitions at our Baronial Championship event, Champion d'arms, Champion d'epe, Champion d'arc and of course the Standard Bearer.
If you have been in the SCA:
1-5 years, tell a story from the first five years of the barony (1-5)
5-10 years, tell a story from the second five years of the barony (5-10)
10-15 years, tell a story from the third five years of the barony
15-20 years, from the fourth,
you get the idea.
The story must be something that actually happened, true at least in the 'if you were standing on a particular street corner at Pennsic on a particular night when the light was just so...' range, real and perferably not something you personally witnessed.

An example, in the winter of 1975 Case Western Reserve split the year into two semesters and a five week inter-session wherein students were incurraged to develope thier own projects for credit, as well as take interesting classes, go on field trips and so on. Two students, with help of course, set up a forge and anvil in the parking lot behind Kusch dorm. (And here His Grace draws his sword) This was the result. Two students dreamed of wearing swords, Chivalry, of being knights or kings... and sometimes dreams do come true.

There is a reason for all of this, and the reason is that History grows in the telling. The SCA is thirty five years old now, and it is important to remember our own history as well as the history we try to recreate, and believe me, truth is stranger than fiction.

And that is all for this week.
