Coming soon:
The January Event:

Sir Ephraim wasn't present this evening, but his deputy Sarah Rex introduced herself and asked that everyone please feel free to approach her to volunteer or with questions.

The Cooks, Angharad and Francesca brought two dishes to taste test for the feast. One vegitarian and one meat for the first course. Please taste and tell them if you like it, or more importantly if you don't. The feast is based mostly on a Chinese text 'A Soup for the Kahn' written for a Mongolian lord.

Maria de Castille is the merchant coordinator for the event, please see her if you'd like to volunteer to be her deputy or perhaps learn about coordinating merchants. She's an expert shopper.

SCA Buisness:

Northern Oaken War Maneuvers and the Baronial Standard Bearer's events are coming up soon. If you want to put in a bid for NOWM, you should've started a month ago. Lord Nial would like to have bids by December and a decision about the event by the first meeting of January.

Archery is meeting as usual on Sunday at Lucus Archery, they've moved indoors for the winter. If you haven't come out because you're intimidated by Christina... don't worry, she won't be there this week.

Armourer's guild is meeting on thursday night as usual at Eldred and Clariel's, see Timothy, Ealdred or Calum for directions/details.

The Brewer's Guild is meeting November 27th, they'll be brewing mead. See Nial for details.

There will be no regular meeting next week because of Thanksgiving.

We have a new website, same place, new format. Take a looksee and tell me if anything is horribly horribly wrong :) Also the new site boasts a directory database (only visible on my computer) so that at any time I can print off a complete and accurate Baronial Directory! ooooooo! :) So, if you've moved, changed your name, gotten a new award, office or household. Lemmie know! I'll be bringing my most current copy of the directory to meeting.

DEMOS:

There is a demo coming up Thursday December 20th for Oxford elementary school in Cleveland Heights. It is an evening demo so it'd be really great if a lot of people could come, starts tentively at 7:00pm. See Darius or Sarah Rex for details.

Non SCA Buisness:

A correction to last week's announcement, Lord Timothy has 20 bales of /straw/ not hay. Sorry, he didn't know there was a difference. If you'd like some straw, please see Timothy.

Christina of the Black Rose Inn is getting a new couch, if you're in despirate need of a couch, she's giving away her old one... otherwise it's going to a dumpster, see her if you're interested.

CWRU department of user services (the fools, er, nice people :) who employ me) is planning an outting for our holiday party... on December 19th, at a movie theater. We're hoping to rent out a theater for a private 9am showing of The Lord of the Rings. Yup, my boss is a Tolkien fan. If you're interested, contact me, Milesent. (not a definate thing just yet... but wouldn't it be cool??)

Rutgur is selling his house, if you're in the market for a house, see him.

The Toledo Museum of Art has a Michelangelo exhibit right now, it's only running until November 25th, and will not be coming to Cleveland. It's well worth the drive to see. Also they have an exhibit currently of The Bible as Art, which includes many lovely examples of calligraphy and illumination.

Nial has a copy of a Brewing guide and supply catalog, come take a look but don't place an order, there are cheaper suppliers.

From His Grace:

How many here know what 've utuvienye' means? Okay, how many would like to? Linguistics were the basis for a lot of Tolkien's work. Over 25 years of study in the elvish language, it's dialects, gramar, vocabulary, calendars, even notes on how to write a happy or critical letter to a king...

(His Highness piped in here about recieving letters in elvish to which His Grace responded:)

Remember if you decide to write a critical letter, even if the king does not speak or read elvish, there are oathsworn knights who would translate for him.

If you are interested in the language, see His Grace or Master Aiden. He's not proposing a class or elvish study group, mind you. But he will be happy to share resources in the appropriate hard copy or modern electronic format.

And that is all for this week...
